Her Fashion Box review September 2013

Yay! My first Her Fashion Box arrived a few weeks ago but it has taken a while to test everything out 😉

I subscribed to the ‘Femine’ style. You also have the option of ‘Classic’ or ‘Trendy’. Each box gets the same items but in a different style or colour.

The pink box is gorgeous and it made me smile to see it in the mail. The inner box is black with a magnetic clasp.

Her Fashion Box comes with a little magazine that explains all the products.

The products

Glamour Glimmer clutch
Her Fashion Box values this at $39.95

Her Fashion Box says – ‘Don’t dull your shine, rock the HFB feminine clutch. The piece will keep you fun and girly with its 80s Carrie Bradshaw reminiscent texture! It will also keep you fierce with its super sleek lines and chunky rope knot clasp’.

This is a nice clutch. Although you have to be delicate in handling it so you don’t get things hooked onto the sequins. I took it out for a spin in a classy restaurant and it was a winner.

ID bracelet
Her Fashion Box values this at $29.95

Her Fashion Box says –  ‘The Celine-inspired, army style piece of shine works on so many levels. It’s classic, having been around for over half a century. It’s right on trend with its androgynous, chunky yet sleek design. Jewellery giants Celine and Tiffany & Co have brought this timeless piece back, with it-girls Christine Centenera, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez lovin’ it almost as much as HFB does.’

At first I was unsure but when I wore it out to dinner it grew on me. Made me feel like I was wearing a classic Tiffany style bracelet and who doesn’t love Tiffany’s?

The Midas Touch ring
Her Fashion Box values this at $24.95

Her Fashion Box says – ‘Plated with real gold, we’re bringing you a goddess-like piece of glamour for any ensemble.’

Sigh… Her Fashion Box never asked for my ring size. This ring is HUGE and doesn’t fit on any of my fingers or my thumb. I’ll have to see if I can find it a match, like Cinderella and the glass slipper.

Maybelline Colour Show Nail Colour in Blue Freeze and Coral Crush
Sample size 2 x 7ml bottles
Sample value $5.95 each

Oh I liked both these colours. I used the Coral Crush on my fingers and the Blue Freeze on my toes. Oh-so-pretty! They lasted about 3 days before chipping without a top coat.

DB Cosmetics Chubby Lip Crayon in Enchanted Rose
Sample size 2.5 grams
Sample value $7.99

Her Fashion Box says – ‘When it comes to our lips, chubby is what we want! Just in time for the party season we’re bringing you this Chubby Lip Crayon from Designer Brands. Whether you want bold or barely there, lips are hot property this season and Designer Brands is on top of the latest shades for unbeatable value.’

This isn’t really my colour. So I have given this away to a friend. I also think I was supposed to get a Smokin’ Hot Kohl Pencil… It wasn’t in my box but I saw that it was in other people’s boxes.

Lonvitalite C2 Collagen Firming and Moisturising Facial Mask
Sample size 1 mask
Sample value $5.80

Her Fashion Box says – ‘While cloth treatment masks may appear to resemble something from a Friday the 13th thriller, these serum-facial treatments are a highly effective way of getting your thirsty or undernourished skin to absorb a therapeutic does of the nutrients it needs in as little as 15 minutes. Every skin type can benefit from a hydrating mask, including oily skin! Hydrating is about upping your skin’s water content, which then turns up the glow in your complexion.’

I used this on the weekend. You can heat it up or make it cold. I decided to use it at room temperature.  It felt cold and wet when I put it on. I soon relaxed and enjoyed the chamomile scent. I didn’t really notice any fabulous results afterwards. My skin seemed pretty normal. It was a blissful 20 minutes though.

PureTAN Pure Moisture Organic Extra Virgin 100% Coconut Oil
Sample size 15ml
Sample value $2.75

Her Fashion Box says – ‘Suitable for all skin types, this moisturising oil provides the deepest level of hydration without clogging pores. Using the highest quality organic coconuts, this oil absorbs easily into the skin, leaving a soft, smooth texture. Also use through hair for a deeply hydrating treatment.’

I was kinda confused about if I was supposed to use it on my face or body? I had a look on the PureTAN website and you are supposed to use it on your body. I used it on my hands, elbows, legs and heels. It smooths out your skin and absorbs fully into the skin in about 10-15 minutes. I quite liked the product. I’m not a fan of the packaging though. The oil is in a moisturiser type tub. Mine is all slippery now and hard to open. When handling the tub I have to be super careful not to spill it everywhere. It needs to be in a pump or spray.

How much does it cost?

Her Fashion Box costs $39.95 per month. Which as far as subscription boxes cost is a lot of moolah. You receive 3 on-trend fashion accessories, 4 beauty and lifestyle deluxe samples and Her Fashion magazine. They are also now offering the Her Fashion Boxette for $24.95 per month. You receive 2 on-trend fashion accessories and 2 beauty and lifestyle deluxe samples.

Where does it post to?

Her Fashion Box is only available in Australia. Sorry international readers!

Was it worth it?

The value of the box is $120. However for me the ring didn’t fit and the lip crayon wasn’t my colour so that brings the value down to $89.

I am mostly happy about the box. Hopefully next month’s is really awesome to make up for the ring that didn’t fit!
