StudioWedBox review – January 2015

Yay! StudioWedBox redeemed it’s self with the January box. Phew! This is my third StudioWedBox.

This month’s box was curated by Maggie Lord founder of Rustic Wedding Chic.

First look

The products

Botanical Garland by Rifle Paper Co
Value $16.95US

StudioWedBox says – ‘We fell in love with this completely versatile garland… What makes this garland so great is that you can make this garland really say anyting with all the differing letter choices that you have. You can add decor to your cake table, put a Mr. and Mrs. sign at your table, our use it on the car for your departure at the end of the night!

This is a fun idea and I will be using this for something in the future, I’m just not sure what yet!

Laser etched wood toasting coaster from Hi Note
Value $9.71AUD each

StudioWedBox says – ‘And when if comes to favors… you want something that is useful and your guests will enjoy. Try and take a classic wedding favor and spice it up a little to fit your theme! For example, these wooden coasters from Hi Note are a fun twist on a classic.’

I really like this coaster and it’s a pretty cool idea. You can also get customised ones. It’s even just cool for using at home. I’m tempted to buy a set of 4 just for this purpose 😉

Miss Shelley’s Southern Jams & Jellies
Value $3.45AUD

StudioWedBox says – ‘Another fun idea are these jams and jellies. Not only are they delicious but her flavors are to die for!’

I received the flavor Pina Colada Jam. The packaging is gorgeous and the jam is tasty, it was a nice sweet pineapple flavour with real pineapple chunks.Yum!

You can see some more great wedding favor ideas from Maggie on her website.

Rambling House Events candle
Value $5AUD (guesstimation)

StudioWedBox says – ‘These candles from Rambling House Events are 100% organic beeswax. They can double up as place cards and a favor… simply tie a name tag on to the rim or the packaging! They are also the perfect size to decorate a mantel or to even add to the tables for your wedding. Bonus… you can use them at home once the wedding is over!

It is a sweet little candle but nothing really special. It has no scent and my glass is chipped 🙁 I tried to see where you can purchase these but it doesn’t look like they are available anymore.

How much does it cost?

StudioWedBox has a 12 month ($29.99US), six month ($34.99US) and monthly ($39.99US) option for the US and Canada. International shipping of $10US per month is available on the $39.99 option, making it $49.99 a month. The international shipping option takes approximately 15 plus days.

I’m in Australia so I am using the international shipping option. Using today’s US dollar it would cost $63.17 AUD.

Was it worth it?

While I do really like this box and appreciate it’s curation, I’m not receiving value for money. Not the fault of StudioWedBox just the joys of the Aussie dollar. I paid just over $60 Aussie dollars for this box and received around $40 worth of items. If you live in the US and get the 12 month subscription you would be getting value for money (the value of this month’s box in US dollars was just over $30) but with the additional shipping costs to get to Australia and the falling value of the Aussie dollar against the US it’s not good value for me 🙁

I do really enjoy this box though, so I’m a little stuck on what to do. My next box has shipped already so I guess I’ll have a little think about it and see when the next payment date is. Sigh… First world problems 😉
