As part of my wedding planning, I have been subscribing to StudioWedBox. I like receiving this box every month as it helps me with wedding ideas and gives me plenty of inspiration.
Here’s what has been in the last few boxes.
Dapper Box is a monthly men’s styling box based in the US. They do ship internationally though, so worth a look if you aren’t based in the US.
Each month Dapper Box sends a box of 4 – 5 men’s accessories with the aim of making you or the man in your life look effortlessly good.
The team at Dapper Box kindly sent me their August 2015 box to review.
I was quite surprised how light the box felt, but when I opened it up I wasn’t disappointed. This box doesn’t have an information card, which is probably a good thing for a men’s box as it probably doesn’t get read! I have done my best to find similar products online to compare prices.
Blue spot socks
Guesstimation $12 US
Who doesn’t like bright, vibrant socks to jazz up their outfit? I found that a similar pair of Happy Socks sells for $12 US.
White Pocket Round with Blue Trim
Guesstimation $25 US
A twist on an old classic. I like that this is a variation of the traditional pocket square (handkerchief). I think that it adds to the appeal of the Dapper Box to have items that are fresh and on trend! I had a search for a similar pocket round online and found the Alexander Olch Linen Pocket Round at Nordstrom for $60 US.
Silk blue spot tie
Guesstimation $19 US
This is a stylish work tie; that feels nice to touch. The tag says it is 100% silk. My fiance liked the tie, so it got a tick from him. I’m not an expert in buying ties, but I had a look online for something similar and found a Royal Blue Tie with Spots at The Tie Bar for $19.
Frozen Tundra Aftershave Splash by Stirling Soap
Sample size 5 ml
Sample value $2.50 US
Metal collar stays x 2
Guesstimation 50 cents
The inclusion of these two items rounds out a nice collection of men’s accessories. My fiance is keen to try the Aftershave Splash, although not too sure about the metal collar stays. So we’ll have to look at the shirts he has and see if any of them could use the collar stays.

Is it worth it?
If you need to look snazzy for work and would rather have a team of style pros pick a tie and socks combo for you every month, then yes I think this box would be a good fit for you. This would also make a great subscription for your dad, partner or brother if they work in an office. My fiance liked receiving the goodies!
Who should subscribe to this box? Stylish efficient men who like to save time and look trendy.
I was pretty happy with my June Wantable Accessories box. I received four items that will add a bit of pizazz to my wardrobe.
The March 2015 Birchbox theme was creativity.
Elite Therapeutics Rosemary Eucalyptus Body Creme
Sample size 14ml
Sample value $1.12US
Birchbox says – ‘Luxe hydrator that nourishes and soothes skin with 70% organic ingredients. Smooth generously onto skin after showering, or anytime you need a moisture boost.’
I thought this was a very Australian bush smelling body creme. It’s not Australian though, it’s made in the US. I quite enjoyed this body moisturiser.
It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-in Product
Sample size 2oz
Sample value $9US
Birchbox says – ‘This 10-in-one treatment addresses the spectrum of hair damage, from brittleness to frizz. Smooth one to two spritzes into dry hair with your hands, then style. Use more for wet hair.’
Because I have thick her that loves to get knots in it and be frizzy pretty much all the time. When I see these kinds of products in my Birchbox I get super excited. This product made me happy, it smells quite nice and did make my hair feel a bit nicer.
Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Highlighter
Sample size 4ml
Sample value $12.75US
Birchbox says – ‘This weightless gel formula gives a suble, pearlescent shimmer. Dab onto cheekbones and brow bones – then glow get ’em!’
My last experience with this brand hadn’t gone done too well, I had a chubby lip pencil that just seemed to smudge everywhere. It wasn’t very pleasant. This however brightened my day. I found it best as a highlighter under my brow bones. It really did brighten up my eyes and it’s been added into my daily make-up routine. Note though, that a little goes a long way!
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
Sample size 15ml
Sample value $3.75US
Birchbox says – ‘British award-winner that uses a two step ritual to gently purify all skin types. Massage into skin. Soak muslin cloth with hot water, then wipe off in small circles.’
What a nice way to cleanse my face I felt like I’d been to the day spa. First massaging it in and then removing it with a hot cloth. So simple and yet relaxing. This cleanser Rosemary and Eucalyptus as well. I’m not sure if this is a new beauty trend? It’s the second product in the box to include these ingredients.
Roloxin Lift Revialising Facial Masque Treatment
Sample size 2 packs
Sample value $22US
Birchbox says – ‘This treatment instantly reduces the look of wrinkles and pores, and lasts up to 24 hours. Squeeze for 20 seconds then smooth onto damp face, avoiding eyes. Wait 7 minutes and rinse.’
For me this is probably a bit too long of a process to do every morning. Waiting 7 minutes with a face mask on! However to my surprise it did work quite nicely to minimise the small crease lines on my forehead and the pores on my nose. It’s also a little bit pricey but definitely worth it for those special occasions when you want to look your very best e.g. a wedding ;-)
How much does it cost?
Birchbox costs $10US a month. I signed up for a 12 month subscription of $110US, you get one month free and it works out $9.16US a month
I use Shipito to ship the box from the US to Australia. This months shipping cost was $6.33 using airmail economy.
TOTAL COST $15.49US (on today’s dollar that makes it $20.17 Aussie dollars)
Was it worth it?
Birchbox is one of my favourite subscription boxes. This month was great because I discovered a totally cool face mask that I’ll use to look fabulous at my wedding as well as a new cleanser, hair spray-in treatment, moisturiser and a brow higlighter. These are all products that have brightened my week and were in line with the kinds of products that I need and use on a daily basis. My box value was really high at nearly $50US.
