Summer time when the weather is fine. We can stretch right up and touch the sky.
Ahhh that gorgeous summer weather. Whether you choose to go to the beach or just enjoy nature – here are five vibrant books to enjoy with your toddler this summer.
1. Summer Supper
by Rubin Pfeffer with illustrations by Mike Austin
A cute read that takes you from the garden to the kitchen table, using words that start with the letter ‘S’.
by Marc Martin
A story about a Seagull and his friend Bob who runs a Fish and Chips shop. The illustrations are beautiful and bright.
3. Botany for Babies
by Jonathon Little
This is one of our August Joy in the Post Toddler Book Club reads. An introduction to botany for babies and toddlers this book includes information about trees, flowers and seeds.
by Corrinne Averiss and illustrated by Isabelle Follath
Fern’s Nanna has not been herself of late. And when Mom remarks that all the joy seems to have gone out of her life, Fern decides to fetch the joy back. With her catching-kit at the ready, she goes to the park and finds joy in all sorts of unusual places. Whooooshh! But Fern soon realises that joy doesn’t fit in a bag, or a box, or a can! How will she manage to bring some back to Nanna?
5. Where is Little Fish?
by Lucy Cousins
We’ve been enjoying this book since Chloe was 6 months old.
Where is Little Fish? is a lift-the-flap board book about a game of hide and seek with different fish – stripy fish, twisty twirly fish, curly whirly fish, shelly fish, crab and of course little fish and mummy fish.
The flaps are quite sturdy. Four of them flip down. One flips up and one diagonally.
The storyline is simple for a young toddler or baby, the illustrations bright and happy and the last page mentions kisses. Which is a super fun way to finish the book with kisses on your toddler.
Over to you?
