I’ve just set up a three month subscription to Native Box.
I’m always excited about trying a new subscription box and this one is no different. I should get my first box towards the end of next week. Woohoo!

Chic in the City with Popbasic Serendipity collection by joyinthepost featuring round glasses
The theme for the July Birchbox was Power Play and was inspired by the characters in the TV show SUITS.
Sorry there is no outer box shots or first look shots this month. My photos were super blurry and my camera battery died 🙁
Here are all the pretty products displayed in the box though.
Sample size 1.5 ML
Sample value $2 US
Birchbox says – ‘A youthful scent that layers passion fruit and mandarin over a base of rose and caramel. Spritz onto wrists, neck, or other pulse points.’
A lovely happy smell. I have been wearing this to work. It is quite a full-on scent, so I try to do a really light quick spray.
Birchbox Bobby pins
Sample size 2 bobby pins
Sample value $1.70 US
Birchbox says – ‘We designed these patterned pins to add style to summer hair with minimal effort. Jazz up simple ponytails, or use to secure errant bangs or layers.’
These bobby pins are adorable. I haven’t worn them yet though. I’m aiming to take them for a spin on the weekend 🙂
Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect
Sample size 40 ML (this is my guess)
Sample value $6.40 US
Birchbox says – ‘A sulfate-free leave-in conditioner that safeguards color and protects UV rays. Mist evenly onto damp hair before styling.’
Ohhh my hair feels so silky. I am loving this.
Vivant Skin Care Green Tea Antioxidant Cleanser
Sample size 4.5 ML
Sample value 0.60 US
Birchbox says – ‘All-over face and body cleanser packed with antioxidant-rich green tea and grape seed extracts. Double-task by massaging into face and body in the shower.’
A nice cooling cleanser. It is a great way to wake up in the morning. When I use this in conjunction with my Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On that I got in my Welcome Birchbox I feel super peppy!
purminerals CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 40
Sample size 10 grams
Sample value $9 US
Birchbox says – ‘This clinically proven antiaging formula moisteurizes, brightens, and evens skin tone. Apply a small amount onto face after cleansing.’
I’m undecided on this one. It looks great at the start of the day but by the end of the day it has disappeared into my skin. I think I will try it with a primer underneath to see if I can get it to last the whole day.
How much does it cost?
Birchbox costs $10 a month. I signed up for a 12 month subscription using Shipito which cost me:
$110 for the 12 month Birchbox subscription (you get one month free)
$8.50 for the assisted purchase (they purchased it for me as a gift as Birchbox only accepts American credit cards)
$8.80 the Shipito 8% commission fee
$4.73 the Shipito bacnk fees
Which makes it $11 per box over the 12 months plus shipping. This months shipping cost was $9 US.
TOTAL COST $20 US (on today’s dollar that makes it $22.12 Aussie dollars)
How long did it take to get to Australia?
After last month’s mess around with trying to combine two packages, I kept it simple and I shipped the box using Airmail Priority for $9.08US. It took three weeks to get to me in Australia.
Are these products available in Australia or through Australian suppliers?
Most of the products are available through Fishpond for about double the price!!
Was it worth it?
Quite a good Birchbox for July. I have been using all four of the beauty products in my daily beauty routine. I really love trying new things every month. It helps to wake me up and get me going each morning 🙂
If I straight convert the US dollars for Aussie dollars, this month the box cost me $22 Aussie dollars and I received $21.80 Aussie dollars worth of products. So pretty much spot on what I paid. However if I tried to purchase these products from Aussie suppliers I would have been paying double the price! Eeeekk. So I still feel like I am getting great value for money.
